Use of Silica Hot Repair and Mortar

Silica hot repair and mortar is used for the hot repair of the silica brick crown in the glass furnace. Silica mortar has excellent resistance to corrosion at high temperature. At room temperature, it has strong bonding capacity and is easy to firmly bond silica brick and hot repair mix. 

Before construction, stir and knead silica hot repair mix separately in a compulsory mixer. Control the hardness of the material to ensure the construction and bonding strength. The silica hot repair mix is in the plastic state. 

 

Clean the parts that require hot repair and the surroundings. Then spill silica mortar on it. When the mortar is wet, add hot repair mix. 

 

If the damaged areas are large, hang the template into the furnace along the hole of repair mix, locate it the right place and tighten and fix the wire to make the template and the inner surface of the crown in the same plane. Spill the mortar on the surroundings of the hole and place the hot repair mix in the damaged areas and temper it. The hot repair mix added each time should be in good contact. If the damaged area is too large, adopt the layered repair method according to the conditions to avoid collapsing of furnaces due to sudden large load on the crown. Before the second repair, the damaged areas should be hardened and sintered. 

 

When the furnace requires overall repair, set up a removable foot console according to the conditions of the crown and do the preparatory work. 

 

Before repair, first repair the burn-through areas. Spill mortar on the damaged areas and form pockmarked face to enhance the bonding of repair layer and the crown. 

 

During repairing, start from both sides of the crown foot. 4-8mm expansion joint should be left between block and block. Spill mortar and then add hot repair mix when the mortar is wet. Quickly pave, tap, compact and smooth the hot repair mix to enhance the bonding between the repair layer and the crown. The joints are dealt with together after the repair is finished and the hot repair mix is hard. 

 

According to the damaged condition of the crown, the thickness of the overall repair layer is between 8-22mm. during the repair, spill mortar at any time to avoid premature curing of hot repair mix. Control the degree of curing and do not damage its structure after it is cured.
